Vaccinations
- All cats must be vaccinated in the 12 months prior to admission to The Cat Motel. Current vaccination certificates must be sighted before cats can be admitted. The Cat Motel reserves the right to refuse admittance if your cat does not comply with these requirements.
- In the case of kittens, The Cat Motel cannot admit cats that have not had their initial vaccination and subsequent 2 boosters (for full immunity it is recommended that owners wait a further 10-14 days before admission).
- For adult cats who haven’t been vaccinated in the past 12 months, The Cat Motel cannot admit cats that haven’t had their initial vaccination and subsequent single booster (for full immunity it is recommended that owners wait a further 10-14 days before admission).
- The minimum vaccination requirement is an 'F3' which covers Feline Enteritis1 and Feline Influenza1.
- Whilst vaccination provides a level of protection, it does not ensure that cats won’t become symptomatic if exposed to Feline Enteritis or Feline Influenza. Cats may be carriers, whilst still being vaccinated against the effects of these diseases. All care will be taken to isolate any cats showing signs of these illnesses.
General Medical
- Whilst every effort is made to offer the best in animal care and services for your pet, The Cat Motel cannot be held responsible for any illness which may develop under our care, due to information being withheld or misinformation relating to previous, current or untreated injuries or illnesses, or contamination of any food product bought in from outside suppliers.
- The Cat Motel will consult a Veterinarian for advice if any illness or injury becomes apparent, with all charges for treatment and transfer to any relevant treatment centre to be charged to the owner (every reasonable attempt will be made to contact you or your nominated contact before authorising treatment).
1Feline Enteritis and Feline Influenza
Panleucopaenia or Feline Enteritis (similar to Parvo in dogs) is a viral disease that causes varying symptoms from lethargy to vomiting, profuse diarrhoea, severe dehydration and possibly death.
Feline Infectious Respiratory Disease (also called “Cat Flu”) is a viral disease caused by Rhinotracheitis and/or Calicivirus, that is spread by direct contact and sneezing. Affected cats that recover from infection often become lifelong carriers of the disease, and are susceptible to recurrent infections.
